1st Grade Teacher
I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from York College in York, Nebraska. I became a certified Reading Recovery teacher through Texas Women’s University in Denton, Texas.
1st grade teacher
I have been a Brock Eagle since 2013! I taught 2nd grade from 2014- 2018. My move to 1st grade has been an exciting one for me. I really enjoy spending my days helping our students learn and discover. The spark and excitement in their eyes make me LOVE teaching!
I began my teaching career in Grand Prairie, TX where I taught second grade for two years. I then became a Ponder Lion in Ponder, TX where I taught first grade for three years and Reading Recovery for one. My husband’s career change took us to Mansfield, TX. I was a first grade teacher for a year in Mansfield ISD before taking a first grade position at Pantego Christian Academy. Our family was blessed to be a part of PCA for three years before my husband’s promotion would take us to Omaha, NE where I was a Literacy Interventionist for two years. We missed Texas dearly and were excited to land in Brock, TX in 2013! My family loves the atmosphere that our small town provides and feel that we are finally home!
My husband and I have two boys, Wyatt and Garrett, that keep us busy! Wyatt is a BHS graduate and Garrett is a senior at Brock HS. Garrett is involved in basketball and FFA. We have one very spoiled cat.
I have known I wanted to teach since I, myself was in the second grade! In a small Oklahoma town similar to Brock Mrs. Clopp inspired me. She was a nurturing teacher that made every student feel special. We loved school, felt important and learned life lessons along with the basics. I strive to provide that environment for my students. I believe that students learn better when they feel safe to take chances!
When I am not teaching I love to be outdoors! I love watching sunsets and soaking in the peace and quiet of our community. Watching basketball in person or on television is also a pastime of mine. I enjoy watching my students, past and present, play and perform the activities they like to do!
